Honeywrap DIY Wax Block
Of course, you’ll want to make Honeywraps because they keep food fresh without toxins leaching in. And you can wrap lunches, snacks on the run, leftovers in the fridge and more.
If you’ve made wraps using Honeywrap Create Your Own Starter Kits or similar kits or in classes and want to keep on making them, Honeywrap (DIY) Do It Yourself wax blocks are for you.
Use with organic cotton if you can – (it’s better for your food and the environment). The wraps you make will be an awesome alternative to plastic wrap and will keep your food fresh.
Features:
- Includes one pre-cut piece of 100% Organic Cotton
- Enough wax for 3 Wraps (1 each large, medium and small)
- Non-toxic (No pesticides or chemicals)
- Natural Ingredients: Jojoba Oil, Beeswax and Tree Resin
- Sustainable
USE:
It can be a bit messy as wax mix is very sticky and will not easily come off tools or surfaces but that’s what makes Honeywrap work so well. If you aren’t prepared for the wax to be with you for a while, Honeywrap suggests buying pre-made wraps.
There are a few ways to make your own wraps at home, and if you have used Honeywrap Create Your Own Starter Kits before, you’ll know!
Here’s one easy way to make your own:
- Turn on oven to 80° degrees. (Any higher will burn the wax and cause smoke alarms to go off!)
- Put your pre-cut organic (way better for your food and the environment) fabric on a piece of baking sheet on top of an oven tray.
- Grate wax block with a grater and sprinkle evenly over the fabric, like you would a pizza – not too heavy handed like cheese.
- Place in oven for about 5 minutes or until wax has melted.
- Pull out and use your brush to spread the melted wax to cover all areas as evenly as possible.
- Hang to dry and start using when cool!
CARE for Honeywraps made with this block:
TO CLEAN, always use cold water and mild soap (eco-friendly is best). You can immerse your honeywrap in cold water and dish soap OR sponge off with a dishcloth. Air dry on a dish rack or use a teatowel to dry off. The makers recommend storing in a tea-towel drawer.
Some oils and sauces may stain a honeywrap, but food stays fresh. Honeywraps do NOT like heat so avoid dishwashers, microwaves and ovens. Do not use to cover raw meat.
Honeywraps are completely reusable if you follow the above simple steps.
DIY Wax Block contains:
BEESWAX is a by-product of honey production. When honey is collected the beeswax cappings are removed and then melted in blocks. Beeswax is a water repellent, is naturally anti-bacterial and has an indefinite shelf life. As an anti-septic, it used for healing wounds. It is also used in many cosmetics. Beeswax has been used by many cultures for centuries for a variety of uses.
TREE RESIN has anti-bacterial properties. AND it’s water resistant. It’s also used in wound healing and increasingly in many cosmetics.
JOJOBA OIL has both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It is used in many cosmetics, moisturisers, shampoo and conditioners.
